The series started with ‘World.B’ (Jan 04) and continued with the ‘Prophet Royal Robertson Retrospective’ (Jan 05), both at FLACA gallery. This exhibition brings together artists from a range of backgrounds, from self-taught to the knowing, who all explore the visionary experience whilst simultaneously constructing fantastic obsessive worlds. The show examines drawing as a tool for deeper investigation as opposed to a form of preparation. The key to unlocking the drawings within the gallery is to see the bleed from a analytic reality to a subjective domain. ‘Future Primitive’ has been made possible by the generous loans from a number of private collections, with particular thanks to John and Maggie Maizels who have loaned previously unseen works from the Raw Vision Art Collection. |
