The Agency for Economy and Space Development Sam Basu & Shahin Afrassiabi 24 June - 31 July 2005 The Agency for Economy and Space Development is a context for ideas and activities relating to space production, function and economic structures. This presentation consists of a number of realised works: 1. Presentations of first methods for building new foundations. 2. The audio cladding of the building. This is a new skin that brings the old building very much up to date. 3. An open access blueprint for urban utility buildings such as information kiosks, public conveniences and communal squares modelled on the new A.E.S.D. headquarters building. 4. The actualisation of an independent temporal state and economic zone. Dingley place will be annexed for one hour. The boundaries will be attended by A.E.S.D. members. The direct effect of this change will be a rise in the price of alcohol to accommodate new taxation rules. The renewal of political and economic structures of a given locality depends on the proper application and management of conflictual strategies and methods( mercenary activities, local conflict and war ). These augment existing modes of exchange thereby regenerating and strengthening local economies by attracting new investment. These new investments will take the form of funding for new roads and transport systems, schools and hospitals but most importantly the updating of outmoded economic practices. The Agency for Economy and Space Development is a two person collaboration by artists Sam Basu and Shahin Afrassiabi who have worked together on a number of projects in the last three years. The Agency is a part ideological, part utilitarian proposal for a transmutable socioeconomic migrant State. |
